Architects
Make sure you choose your architect wisely. If you are selling for profit, don’t go for someone with complex ideas or innovative designs. Instead go for one with a sound reputation and experience. Make sure you have seen their portfolio and try and get some references. The architect you choose will also need to be aware of the cost of building materials and know what your budget is.
The best way to find an architect is through personal recommendation, but your Local Planning Office should have alist of names of people they have worked with. It could be cheaper to use a Designer, so contact The Designers Association for a list of contacts. Other places to try are:

The Architects Registration Board: www.arb.org.uk
The British Institute of Architectural Technologists: www.biat.org.uk
